Pictures of Pembroke Castle a Norman Castle in Pembrokeshire

Pembroke castle is a Norman castle that remains largely intact. With its many towers, endless passages and winding stair cases it is very enjoyable to explore.

Pembroke castle was founded by the Norman Roger of Montgomery in 1093. The castle has never fallen into the hands of the Welsh.

The castle fell into the hands of William Marshal in 1189. He was the first to built a stone castle on the site. Most of the present castle dates from the 13th century.

The castle offers some magnificent views over Pembroke village and the surrounding countryside.

The castle is built over a large cave called the Great Wogan Cave.
